Alaska's Inside Passage is a unique landscape sculpted from the dramatic and mysterious forces of moving ice. The glaciers of Ice Ages past and present have fascinated explorers and scientists alike who entered Alaska by boat up the inside passage. One of these early explorers, John Muir, had a passion for the ice that had modified the spectacular scenery he describes in his writings. Muir's poetic descriptions lead us through the history and geological past of this beautiful landscape. We learn from world experts about the inner working of glaciers and what they can tell us about the worlds climate of the past and future. From the dramatic calving tide water glaciers to a single four foot 120 year old spruce tree found high on a ice filed, we learn the why Glaciers are truly one of the natural wonders of the world.
